SmartClient is intended to be a
free, open source .NET application update framework.
Using .NET technologies such as WinForms, ASP.NET, and Web Services,
SmartClient is designed to provide a reusable and extensible update framework
to application developers. Examples
of such applications include Microsoft Messenger, Windows XP, or Ximian
RedCarpet. The framework will
consist of a client side agent, along with a server side update server (built
on ASP.NET.) SmartClient.NET is
licensed under the Mozilla
Public License 1.1 and will be written entirely in C#.
This project is brand new and is
seeking developers who are interested in participating.
